Two men died in a building fire yesterday near KL Sentral. The building is under-construction by a big contractor for a big client. Why did it happened? Just make a guess..most likely you are right. And, I bet it is going to happen again, just like deaths on the road-about 6000 persons died every year. We,honestly NEVER learn from experience.Period.

SWISS A/C:

I just wonder what those people with secret bank a/c in Swiss Bank with ill-gotten money are thinking now? They may have millions but most likely they can't even get a good night sleep. For normal people like you and me, we can't even have enough to save for rainy days. However, we can sleep like a baby...

This is what my guru was talking about "al sakinah". It is translated as "ketenangan" in Malay. In English, it may means when one is at peace with oneself and one's own conscience.

This is the first time in my life I came across a beautiful concept of PERPETUAL CHARITY. It can applied to all, irrespective of one's religous belief. In this case, it is from Islamic view point. I repost the short reminder( nasihah) here to share with you who read my blog:

[Based on the advices given by Ustadh Khurram Murad, may Allah have mercy on his soul, to his family in his last will.]

Inviting People to the Truth

Throughout this temporal life, always keep your vision fixed on the task of inviting people to the true faith, and on the effort to make it prevail. Until your very last keep this as your goal and mission. Never allow any other purpose to supersede this supreme objective nor let any other concern prevail over this passion, especially the concern to acquire worldly benefits.

There can be no greater act of perpetual charity than that fact that a person starts to do a good deed because of your inspiration. And if that person were not just to engage himself in the good deed but also make others engage in it, then the perpetual reward for charity shall have increased manifold.

If this work is one of Da'wah, of the struggle to establish the true faith and make the word of Allah prevail, or to ensure enforcing the penalties prescribed by Allah to curb evils, or the revival of some Sunnah of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, then your reward shall be in line with what the Quran calls ad'afan muda'afah (doubled and redoubled) [Al-Imran 3:130]. Not only that, you will also witness the fulfilment of the tiding: "With Us there is more" [Qaf 50:35].

To-day I attended the company BOD meeting. We have to wait 30 minutes before we can start because the Chairman never turned up- and worse not a phone call why he could not be with us. Most of us were there to suit his schedule, but he got no respect for any of us. Thanks God, it was my last BOD meeting.
-BOD: Board of Directors

My congratulations to my friend Dato' Salamon Selamat for being appointed Datuk Bandar Shah Alam. He is expected to deliver even miracles by city folks but only a handful will co-operate with him. Good luck my friend-You are entrusted with a thankless job.

I am glad to read the local US embassy regrets for their immigration officers "rough" manners in dealing with our leaders and ministers. If you are powerful and in power , you have to be compassionate. Then only you will be respected.

Have you been to the movies lately? If you have not, why not take your kids to see Stuart Little 2? Well, to-night, my 13 year old son and my wife enjoyed ourselves watching the movie. It has a few moral lessons my kid could learn. In fact, it is also good fun.

SPECIAL NOTE TO READERS OF The Reader:

I am sorry to inform that if you register at the bottom of the The Reader blog, it is not working. So, you won't get the posting via email. The only way is to bookmark and visit this blog as and when you wish.

Last night I attended a gathering to discuss the current affairs. It was lead by a man learned in this subject matter. A week before we were told to read Surah al Hashr-The Gathering or Banishment. He started reading the surah and made reference to the current world affairs especailly the hot issue of US intention to attack Iraq. Then a few of us made some comments and a few referred to other sources of information.

This ,in my view is a form of deep conversation-reading,listening(thinking at the same time) and talking.

At last, I have succeeded sending a post wirelessly from my ipaq/hp to my blog The Reader. This posting is made via avantblog.

As I was about to get into my car which was parked in front of a 'nasi lemak' stall, a youngman with a 'parang' came out of his car and ran toward another young man across the road. As he was running, he said;" Aku nak tetak dia, jahat macam gangster". I immediately responded telling him to cool down. He slowed down and waving his 'parang to the other young man across the road. Luckily, nothing happened.

The time was 7:15am. What a day to begin my life after reaching 50!
